Hargeisa, 14 September 2026 – A training, research, and counseling program focused on mothers who experienced the loss of their babies during pregnancy, childbirth, or the postnatal period has officially concluded in Hargeisa.
Throughout the program, particular attention was given to listening to the voices and experiences of women, while also strengthening the knowledge and skills of healthcare workers in maternal and newborn care, as well as communication between patients and healthcare providers.
The event was officially closed by Dr. Abdirahman Abdisamad, Deputy Director of Hargeisa Group Hospital. It was attended by officials and representatives from the Ministry of Health Development, Hargeisa Group Hospital, Hargeisa University, Edna Adan Hospital, non-governmental organizations, and the wider health sector.
Participants highlighted the importance of incorporating mothers’ voices into research and healthcare planning in order to provide quality, safe, and patient-centered health services that respond to the needs of mothers.
The program is expected to contribute to practical actions based on its findings and recommendations, helping to improve maternal and newborn healthcare services and strengthen support for mothers.
