Female Genital Mutilation (FGM)
FGM is a deeply rooted cultural practice in Somaliland involving the partial or total removal of
external female genitalia for non-medical reasons. It poses serious health risks, including
childbirth complications, infections, and long-term psychological trauma.

and human rights concerns. - Health Services: Provides counseling and medical care to women and girls affected by
FGM. - Collaboration: Works with government, NGOs, and community leaders to promote laws
and policies to eliminate FGM. - Training: Equips midwives and healthcare workers to support survivors and advocate
against the practice.
Goals:
- Reduce FGM incidence through education and advocacy.
- Improve care and support for affected women and girls.
- Strengthen enforcement of laws prohibiting FGM.
