Gender-Based Violence (GBV)
Gender-Based Violence (GBV) remains a significant challenge in Somaliland, primarily
affecting women and girls across all regions. GBV includes physical, sexual, psychological, and
economic abuse, rooted in unequal power relations and social norms.

SLNMA’s Role and GBV Services:
- GBV One-Stop Centers: Operates centers in eight regions (Borama, Wajale, Gabiley,
Hargeisa, Burco, Erigavo, Las’anod, Berbera) providing integrated, survivor-centered
services. - Comprehensive Services Include:
- Medical care and emergency treatment
- Psychosocial counseling and support
- Legal aid and referral services
- Community awareness and prevention campaigns
- Community Engagement: Conducts outreach programs to reduce stigma, raise
awareness, and encourage survivors to seek timely help.
Impact and Goals:
- Provide accessible and confidential care for GBV survivors.
- Enhance community understanding to prevent GBV.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to strengthen legal and social support systems for sur
vivors.
