Hargeisa – The Somaliland Nursing and Midwifery Association (SLNMA) today held an awareness and advocacy event in Hargeisa focused on cancers affecting women, highlighting the importance of prevention, early detection, regular screening, and maintaining good health.
The event brought together health professionals, members of the association, and invited guests to raise public awareness about women’s cancers and the importance of seeking medical advice and appropriate screening services.
During the event, speakers emphasized that early detection plays a critical role in improving treatment outcomes and saving lives. Women were encouraged to pay close attention to changes in their health and to seek medical attention when they experience unusual or concerning symptoms.
Health professionals also highlighted the importance of regular health check-ups and increasing awareness among women about the risk factors, warning signs, prevention, and available screening services related to cancer.
The event also provided an opportunity for participants to receive health information and discuss the challenges facing women in accessing cancer prevention, screening, and treatment services.
SLNMA emphasized that community awareness and health education are essential components of preventing and reducing the impact of cancer among women. The association also encouraged women to prioritize their health and make regular medical check-ups part of their routine.
